Things We Miss--90's Male Groups Pt. 1

It's crazy how music has completely changed in the past 10-15 years. It is actually a bit depressing that we don't really have the classic music that used to and still does get a good party started.  We used to have groups that made some serious baby making music. They were groups that inspired crushes in grown women.  Well at SA2F we miss them dearly, so today we dedicate our "Things We Miss" to some of the 90's groups that still stay in rotation on our Ipods.

JODECI-K-Ci, JoJo, Dalvin and Devante came on the scene in 1990 and dominated the game almost instantly with their New Jack Swing style. For a while it seemed  like they couldn't make a bad song and then just as suddenly as they came on to the scene, they were gone. Admist rumors of  in-fighting and drug abuse came the collapse of one of the most influential  R&B groups of the 90's.  But we still jam on songs like "Come and Talk To Me," "Freakin' You," "Stay," "Forever My Lady," and "Feenin" just to name a few.

DRU HILL-If ever there was a successor to the Jodeci-era, it was Dru Hill. Jazz, Sisqo, Nokio and Woody came out of Baltimore swinging with crazy four part harmonies that other groups were trying to match but never quite could. They were unstoppable with innovative videos and songs that made you want to fall in love and make some babies. Then came the addition of Scola, Woody left to sing gospel, Sisqo has a successful solo run and now there is Tao and honestly we are still wishing for their early days. We keep "Beauty", In My Bed," "5 Steps" and "These Are The Times" in rotation

SHAI - formed at Howard University in Washington D.C. Three of the four members, Marc Gay, Carl Martin, and Darnell Van Rensalier, belonged to the same fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha, and along with good friend, Garfield A. Bright decided to take a chance at turning their hobby of singing into a career.Their biggest hit "If I Ever Fall In Love" reached #2 on the charts and sent ladies and guy groups everywhere into a frenzy. A more mellowed out R&B the group quietly faded away, though they still do shows now.

There are definitely more to come, so stay tuned, we are just getting started!!
